Simply put, any good manufactured in one country and brought into another for retail sale. Due to lower labor and other production costs imported items are often significantly cheaper than those made in the US and present a tremendous opportunity to retailers to offer quality merchandise to their customer at a low price. Of course not all imported merchandise is cheaper than its domestic equivalent, for example high-end European fashions can be quite costly however electronics, toys, and apparel made in China or Indonesia are significantly less expensive than similar merchandise made in Europe or the United States.
