Las Vegas Market Announces Winners Of Sixth Annual Global Goodness Awards

Las Vegas Market has announced four winners of its sixth annual Global Goodness Awards. The Global Goodness Awards were created to recognize companies in the furniture, home décor and gift industries which have demonstrated a commitment to environmentally and socially responsible practices. The awards will be presented at the winter market, which will be open from January 22 until January 26, 2017.

Anji Mountain, winner of the furniture award, creates floor coverings using sustainable and recycled materials. Since 2003, the family owned company has used materials such as jute, bamboo, seagrass and cork to create rugs, floor mats and other flooring solutions. The company has also partnered with the not for profit group Trees for the Future, planting one tree in East or West Africa for each rug sold.

The Cottage Potters, winner of the home décor award, employs a Mexican-based workforce and offers them a fair wage for their artisan products. They have also developed a program to assist women who may be struggling. The company specializes in wheel thrown, wood fired clay pottery.

This year, Dunitz & Company will receive their second Global Goodness Award. Founder Nancy Dunitz began the business in Guatemala, and has expanded it to include fused glass jewelry and other designs. Dunitz is a member of the Fair Trade Federation, Green America, and Fair Trade Los Angeles.

People’s Choice winner, Quilling Card, is a Framingham, Massachusetts based paper products company. Employing over 300 workers in Vietnam, Quilling Card specializes in hand rolled, shaped and designed quilled greeting cards. The majority of employees are women, and all are provided with safe working conditions, health care and sustainable wages.
