Summer Buying Guide

Summer Buying Guide: From Millennial Pink to Platform Heels

Summer is no excuse to slack off when it comes to style. This time of year is hotter than ever; there’s no reason your clothing choices shouldn’t be either. Grab a few of these key players and you’ll be cooler than a margarita on the rocks.

High Cut One-Piece Swimsuit

Blame it on Baywatch, but the high cut one-piece swimsuit is coming on stronger than Zac Efron’s abs in the new remake. The low back, spaghetti straps and high cut in the front can be seen in collections across brands and in more colors than just red. It makes everyone’s legs look long and lean, no running on the beach in slow-motion required.

Platform Heels

Being the easiest type of heel to walk in, it makes sense these are in season for the summer months. Interestingly, bright colors and patterns, textures and details adorned the shoes seen stomping down the runways. They’re easy, they’re fun, if you absolutely must subject yourself to heels this season- make them a platform.

With Calvin Harris’s last hit was “Slide,” sliding into DM’s is still a thing apparently and now the shoe of the season shares a name with the two former. Summer is all about ease so it makes sense the shoe of the season requires zero effort to put on. Whether hanging poolside or wearing them with trousers for an unexpected look, it is hard to resist their appeal.

Statement Tees

In a world where we broadcast everything from our political opinions to our avocado toasts online, it doesn’t mean we haven’t stopped doing the same IRL. One of the most iconic being Dior’s “We should all be feminists,” courtesy of the labels first female creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri. Grab a tee and let it speak so you do not have to.

Bustiers/Waist Trainers

Bralettes are not showing any sign of stopping but bra tops are the evolution of bralettes the summer season. Interestingly that a season without structure and going with the flow is going the more sculptural route.

 Wide Leg Pants

If I describe summer style with the word “ease,” it will be redundant. But, that’s exactly what the summer months call for. Whether the office calls for pants or shorts just aren’t your thing, then these are for you. Sophistication and comfort is something to celebrate. Even so, adding a high-waist or paper-bag closure adds a little extra flair to an already simple style.

Millennial Pink

Céline, Balenciaga, and Valentino were some of the designers adorning their runways with the color in dresses and matching accessories alike. According to Pop Crush, it is not one shade but actually ranges from from Rose Quartz and Pale Dogwood to Candy Pink. Even more interesting, it sometimes somewhere between beige and peach.
